mCon Story

mCon (masi consult (pty) ltd) was initiated in 2018 and is owned by Masifunde Learner Development NPC, a non-profit organisation with fifteen years of in-depth experience in all spheres of the non-profit sector and of non-profit management: locally, nationally and internationally.
mCon is a conglomerate of a variety of experienced NPO CEOs and experts from the non-profit sector, freelancing as consultants, experts or facilitators of mCon.
mCon’s objective is to systematically share the know-how, learnings and lessons acquired within Masifunde Learner Development to empower more NGOs within South Africa to build sustainable and effective organisations which are enabled to unleash their potential to initiate change in their respective communities.
mCon is designed as a social enterprise since all shares are owned by the non-profit organisation, Masifunde Learner Development NPC. Once mCon generates significant revenue its profits will be used for grant-making to support upcoming and promising community initiatives.

Masifunde Learner Development NPC is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded in 2004, which runs holistic development programmes for children and youth in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa. Masifunde officially registered as non-profit company (NPC) with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) in 2009 under the name Masifunde Siphuhlisa Umfundi NPC, and is trading as Masifunde Learner Development. In 2009 Masifunde also received the status as non-profit organisation (NPO) from the Department of Social Development (DSD) and was approved as tax exempted public benefit and welfare organisation (PBO) from the South African Revenue Services (SARS).

Masifunde Learner Development NPC’s Founder and Managing Director was selected as one of the Top 40 under 40 business manager in the Nelson Mandela Bay in 2015. The organisation was honoured with the innovation prize “Land der Ideen” by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, won the international Döhnehoff Prize for Reconciliation and International Communcation by the ZEIT Foundation, and the “Start Social” Award of Mc Kinsey.
Masifunde in Germany is under the patronage of Brigitte Zypries, the former German Minister of Economics, and its international Click4Change campaign was under the patronage of the German President, Frank Walter Steinmeier.
